About Soon Valley tours

The Soon Valley is a surprisingly green and fertile highland valley hidden in the western Salt Range of Punjab, a little-known retreat of lakes, orchards and rolling farmland far from the usual tourist trail. Centred on the area around Naushera and the high point of Sakesar, the highest peak of the Salt Range, the valley is dotted with a chain of saline and freshwater lakes, including Khabeki, Uchhali and Jahlar, which attract large numbers of migratory birds in winter and have been recognised as important wetlands. Its mild climate, green fields and water make it a refreshing contrast to the surrounding arid plains, and the area is known for its peacocks, fruit gardens and the cool air around Sakesar. Still largely off the radar for most travellers, Soon Valley rewards those seeking quiet rural scenery, birdwatching and a gentle escape rather than dramatic mountains. It is reached by road from the Salt Range and the M2 motorway, and is best visited in spring for blossom and greenery or winter for the migratory birds on the lakes.
